Yemen was founded on 22nd May 1990, from the unification of the Islamic Yemen Arab Republic (or North Yemen) and the Marxist People's Democratic Republic of Yemen (or South Yemen).

The roundel is based upon the Yemeni national flag.

• North Yemen : roundel and flag similar, with one star
