A formerly british colony known as Northern Rhodesia, Zambia gained its independence on the 24th of October 1964.
Flag, green background, three vertical stripes, red black orange, in the lower right corner, a yellow bird in the upper right corner.
Roundel, three sectors green red black in the center, wide orange border, yellow bord in the middle.
The roundel of the Zambian Air Force uses the colors and the elements of the Zambian national flag.

The fin flash uses the colors of the Zambian national flag.
